Elizabeth Park Rose Garden (Hartford CT)

Space is never an issue in Hartford, it has been blessed with loads of sunshine, rain and amazingly beautiful landscape. Therefore, when you have the time for a vacation with the kids and your family members, be sure to take the rented charter bus to precious little Hartford gems like the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden. The visit should be enjoyed together with your loved ones - this is simply the best kind of relaxing reward that nature has to give you. Breathe in the tantalizing scent of rose in the air while languidly learning more about the many different types and colors of the rose plant during the journey.

The Elizabeth Park Rose Garden is the oldest municipally-run rose garden in the country and in the two and a half acre park, there are more than eight hundred different varieties of the plant. At the point of writing this article, there are approximately fifteen thousand plants maintained in the park itself. That is a sheer astonishing number, to be honest, for a rose park of that size. The organizers and managers of the park have put in a whole lot of effort to ensure that each and every single budding rose is well taken care of, and lots of information is provided to help tour bus visitors like yourself come off more learned than before. With a more profound understanding about the origins of the flower, one would have a deeper appreciation for it when purchasing them at your local florist back home.

The Elizabeth Park Rose Garden is also a hotspot for photographers because the garden’s ground is simply covered with carpets of roses and they can be seen climbing the walls and fences too!

Interesting, learn more about the public All America Test Gardens while you are there. The test gardens are places where new species of plants are tested and grown. The Elizabeth Park Rose Garden is the only test garden in the country that has gone public, the others remain closed. So, the chance to see how things are done under the All America Test program is a precious one. Once a new variety is tested and approved, they are then introduced to the public.

The garden gives off an air of peace and warmth while the staff are understanding, patient and willing to help you explore the garden in a more timely manner. The amenities are complete and well-maintained too. The main garden area shows you the more ‘modern’ type of roses; if you want to see the older types, head over to the Heritage Rose Garden instead.
